This slow-growing, nice, soft-leaved palm feels fine in half-shade as well. It is one of the garden creators` favourite plants in the southern countries as it has beautiful and graceful appearance and nice pattern on the trunk. As time passes, new suckers can appear too. Its homeland is Southeast Asia, central part of southern China, Laos and North Vietnam. It is common along the Mekong River that is why one of its usual name is Mekong Date Palm. It grows beautifully in good soil with adequate water supply and needs frost-free wintering.
