This impressive tall deciduous tree is native to the central and southeastern United States from New York to Florida and across to Texas. The bright green and cream-yellow or ivory yellow alternate colour mix on the star-shaped leaves have an interesting effect in summer, which turns into shades of red, purple and yellow in autumn. The young plants are mainly of columnar appearance, the mature specimens raise an oval canopy. The tree thrives well under lowland and upland conditions alike. USDA zone: 5b.
