The trumpet creeper, native to the southeastern United States, a rampant climbing deciduous shrub. The strikingly large trumpet shaped red flowers of the Tango variety appear in July, attracting bees, butterflies and the eye until the last warm and sunny days of early autumn! The compound pinnate leaves are usually dark green and large bean-shaped fruits follow the flowers.
Trumpet creepers tolerate a wide range of soils in full sun to light shade, however, they need plenty of room to ramble and to be able to show themselves indeed. They work well on a pergola, wall, large tree or other substantial support. USDA Zone 5b.
