It is a slender, conical crowned tree which can grow up to a height of 30 m and has practically survived only in a relatively small area, the Bosnian-Serbian border region, though later was found in Montenegro and Bulgaria too. Surprisingly, it is a close relative to Picea breweriana (native to Oregon in the USA)!
The branches bend down horizontally, but their end parts erect, the secondary shoots are more or less down-hanging. Its leaves are bright green, their back side has two silver stripes, so the foliage glistens in the sunshine.
It is a very good wear-resisting, widely used plant; its slender, narrow crown will fit well in smaller gardens too. As it is also non-sensitive to polluted air, is a forestry-related plant in regions like this in Western Europe. More and more popular as a Christmas tree too! USDA Zone 4a
