This deciduous tree is native to the eastern US, grows to 33-49 foot tall, which draws attention by its special-shaped leaves. The autumn foliage is usually flaming orange red, but every kind of autumn colour hue can be observed relating to a particular tree, starting from orangish to fiery red!
The extractable oil, which can be taken from the tree and contains 75-80% of safrole, is a basic ingredient of synthetic party drug known as Ecstasy, but more importantly, it is used in perfume and soap making as well as to keep away mosquitoes and other insects!
