It is a fast-growing, unique in appearance, large-sized deciduous tree with vivid green foliage. In its original homeland (the south-eastern part of the US) it mainly lives in wet, swampy, permanently or seasonally flooded habitats where its interesting, breathing roots also develop. The most beautiful domestic population can be seen in Hévíz (in Hungary) where wonderful, almost mythical specimens were installed in the swamp around the lake. However, it develops very beautifully not only in marshland, but also under the average garden conditions! USDA Zone 5a.
