It is a nearly 200-year-old cultivar, appeared in France however is still widespread and very popular in Germany to this day! The tree is not too demanding however hardened, tolerant, long-lived even to 100 years of age! The fruit can be consumed from the first half of September, but can be stored for only a short period of time, approx. 1 month. At the same time it can be used in many ways: excellent for fresh consumption, stewed fruit or very fine pear juice alike! The fruit is usually medium-sized, but sometimes can weigh even 7 oz., conical-shaped, rusty-coloured, the flesh is yellowish-white, very juicy, `melting`, fragrant, sweet and has excellent flavour!
