This evergreen oak is native to the south of the Iberian Peninsula, its main specialty is that the seeds are sweet, edible and the taste is similar to chestnuts!
In the nature it can be found on poor soils, hot and dry southern mountain slopes, and at places of similar conditions it can be raised successfully in our country (Hungary) too. Its silver-coloured, small, round leaves form a particularly showy foliage. At cooler-lying areas rather raise it as a container plant! USDA zone 7a.
