This dark green foliaged columnar cypress can be seen in many places in the Mediterranean region. Its beautiful, shiny brown cones are walnut-sized. The cypresses are usually characterized by a blazing sun exposure, and they are the most beautiful on relatively drier and poorer (even stony) soils. Their sprouts are strong, very stout and "dense textured" in places like these, so they will better resist tougher winters. Don`t ever plant a cypress in a shaded or even a semi-shaded place! Cypresses are premier solitaire plants in a right place, but are also excellent as hedgerow!
