This is one of the most beautiful Hungarian sort of the prickly spruce, which is native in the US, also known as silver fir. Missus Edith, the world-famous Hungarian breeder Dr. Elemér Barabits`s wife (from Sopron) selected it from a large group of seedlings! Its needles are long, thin, their colour is nearly illuminating whitish-silver, and the colour of the fresh sprouts is especially amazing. One of its extremely advantageous properties is - compared to other, mostly foreign varieties - that it soon grows a strong leader and will have a handsome figure, so you do not need to bother with stakes and fixing the plant for years!
