Azara dentata, native to Chile and Argentina, also known as Toothed Azara is an arching evergreen shrub with dark green, glossy toothed leaves, hairy underneath. It will bear clusters of vanilla scented, very fine, fluffy and tiny dark yellow flowers in late spring, followed by white fruits in autumn. The significance of this plant lies in its strong, delicious scent in late winter and early spring. Very popular in Great-Britain and Ireland as a hedge-plant.
