This palm is native to Andaman Islands belonging to India, but lies 1000 km away from India, and situated at the border of the Indian Ocean and the Andaman Sea, separating them, to the southwest of Myanmar. This palm is very rare even in its own land, only forms a bit bigger populations in two places.
It is a smaller-sized palm; the bright green leaves are in a herringbone layout so forming a flashy, dense plume of leaves. It requires good water supply, nutrient-rich soil and frost-free wintering - under these conditions, it will be a very nice trunked little tree, which is an eye-catching ornament on the terrace!
