It is native to South Africa, currently is still relatively unknown in Hungary, however for its tasty, juicy fruit of 1.5-2 inches in diameter is willingly planted everywhere in the subtropical areas of the world. Due to its huge thorns, impenetrable hedges can also be installed in these areas. A strong, drought tolerant plant and although is subtropical origin, its winter-hardiness is surprisingly good: according to the literature, it can withstand even minus 6 degrees of Centigrade. Keeping method is the same as that of oleander. It is a special novelty!
