Vaniglia persimmon

This variety ripens lighter-coloured, peaky, medium-large, pleasant-tasting fruit, which is slightly split up into cloves.

The young grafts should be covered by 40 to 50-cm height of earth especially in the first, but preferably in every winter. Unfortunately, the occurring extreme cold winters nowadays can cause nearly all sorts of Japanese Persimmons to freeze, only a few former Soviet-bred varieties (e.g. Russian Beauty or Nikita`s Gift) are exceptions, and other countries` breeders also make serious efforts to create more and more frost hardy varieties. Obviously, in ordinary, normal winters there will not be anything wrong with them, but to be prepared for the worst case is advisable so that the tree can be grown again from the lower, noble part of the trunk. With some luck, a decade or two can pass without extreme frosts, so persimmon can present us with huge quantities of fruit in exchange for caring! There are certainly luckier growing sites (e.g. higher hills, protected southern sides and vales of the mountains, which emerge 30-50 metres or even 100-200 metres from the plain, so their frost run-off is good!), where our persimmon and naturally figs or pomegranates, etc. will never have any problems either!
