Growing up to 15 metres tall, semi-evergreen species of oak, whose autumn foliage is resplendent in incredibly beautiful red! The bark is grooved and dark grey. Its leaves are 6-12 cm long and 5-10 cm wide. The acorns, which are egg-shaped, 12-18 mm long and 8-14 mm wide, appear from the second year. It is a very decorative plant and also the most promising species of red oak trees, which is not only winter-hardy, but grows very well in the higher pH-type soils too!
