It is a wonderful perennial plant with huge leaves, also grows own trunk(s)! It radiates a real tropical atmosphere! An outstanding feature of this plant from Japan is that its root can overwinter when mulched, and becomes a bigger and more imposing site year by year! In Harkány, Hungary, plants consisting of dozens of trunks, approx. 5 meters tall have already been seen! Keeping in tubs is also a magnificent sight, but certainly not like a mop bucket, but at least 40-litre ones, moreover, if it is possible the size of container should be of around 100 litres!! The plant can be placed at the main point of the terrace or garden together with other container plants! Amazing accessories are the different sorts of New Zealand flax (Phormium)!
