On the western edge of North America, throughout southern Alaska to northern California, it lives in a large area as native fir. Many beautiful specimens bloom in our country too. Mostly, when it is young, is a slender, conical crowned tree which can reach a huge size and Methuselah age in a favoured habitat.

Besides showy foliage, its bluish cones represent a serious ornamental value! It is a wonderful tree in more spacious gardens and parks.
