This is a well-adaptable, fast-growing pine, which will be a straight-trunked, huge tree. Among the species Pinus, only the American sugar pine (P. lambertiana) precedes it at tallness. Specimen of 72 meters tall and 2.5 meters in trunk diameter is also known! Its long needles (up to even 30 cm), relatively large cones and showy, spectacular appearance make it a very valuable species. In the US it is also very important economically, because its wood tinged with pale yellow is a popular material for joinery. There are already wonderful specimens in Hungary too, but it would be worth spreading much more widely and sylvicultural installing. Approximately looks like the transition between the black pine and Himalayan silk pine.
