This is a ground cover plant, originates from the western Mediterranean islands. It acts as an evergreen under mild climate, but freezes in winter in the temperate zone, however usually regenerates itself fast in spring. Its sprout system consisting of tiny, almost duckweed-like leaves forms a few centimetre-thick, highly decorative carpet on the ground! It feels good at both sunny and shaded locations alike. Smaller parts of it is worth planting in pots and keeping them at a frost-free place, in case a harsh winter would kill the rest in the open. Planted them outside in the spring, will spread quickly again.
