It is native to the Caucasus and northwestern Turkey, a very resistant, fast-growing, upward-striving, spectacular species of spruce with beautiful appearance. It raises a sleek cone-shaped crown which is especially eye-catching during the rejuvenation in spring, thanks to the mass of the sometimes nearly light golden-green new shoots growing at the dark green twig-ends.
