Apricot: Rózsakajszi (Rose Apricot)

(Armeniaca vulgaris `Rózsakajszi`)
This plant is currently unavailable.

It`s a Hungarian breed, was bred in Kecskemét in the early 1900s. The ripening period ranges from mid-July to the beginning of August, in case of cooler weather will last until mid-August. It is a well-fertilizing version, starts bearing fruit very early and yields abundantly. The fruit is medium-large size, in case of high yield it is smaller, elongated, and has flattened cone shape. The basic colour is citrus yellow and orange, and blood red on the sunny side. The flesh is orange when ripe, firm, fibrous, freestone and weakly juicy. The taste is moderately sweet and has distinctive flavour. It is easily transportable, in case of timely picking, even up to 6-8 days.
It is less sensitive to frost than the Hungarian apricot. This tree is undemanding for both the climate and the soil conditions.
