This bamboo bush has non-spreading root-system, occurring in the higher mountains in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, even up to the altitude of 6,562 feet/2000 m in China. The leaves can be even 8 inches/20 cm long, vivid green and shiny. The advanced bushes usually reach a tallness of 13-19.6 feet/4-6 m or even taller in a very favourable habitat. The plant is fully winter-hardy, only harsh winter may cause some damage to the foliage, but soon regenerates itself in spring. It is an excellent hedge, solitary and container plant, moreover, can be an indoor plant too. The new buds developing in spring are edible and definitely delicious!
