The leaves are relatively small, but dark green and shiny, and grow in a huge mass, which makes this bamboo one of the most spectacular. Stems are very hard, very strong as a wood-material for craftsmen. Grows slowly when young but speeds up later, giving a wonderful sight! Good winter hardiness!
