It is a 2-4-metre tall shrub with shiny light green foliage that enjoys high respect among the people of the Mediterranean and the Near-East region since ancient times. Plenty of fruit bearing and ornamental versions are known. Several hundreds of cultivars are still being grown in Iran. Its large, funnel-shaped coral red flowers are blooming throughout the summer. Its very tasty large fruits ripe in October.
