Kiwi Fruit Geneva, Geneva Hairless Kiwi, Japanese Dwarf Kiwi, Japanese Gooseberry

(Actinidia arguta `Geneva`)
This plant is currently unavailable.

The Japanese kiwi or mini kiwi is completely hardy and hardened, a quick-growing climber which can be run up on a support system or fence. It does not need blazing sun, rather feel good in partial shade! In addition to adequate water supplies, it may bear fruit very soon, as early as the second year! It is very much necessary to plant a pollinator variety close to the female varieties. The size of the fruit is between gooseberries and small sized plums, the taste is very pleasant, sweet and aromatic when ripe! The Geneva sort has reddish green round shaped fruits which taste very pleasant muscat flavour! It has a lengthy ripening time, the first ripe fruits are usually picked at the second half of September, and if autumn is not too cold, we can still find a few grains here and there in early December as well! An excellent dessert full of vitamins which can be enjoyed with its peel too. Pruning is not needed, but feel free to cut it back if it over-spreads too much. This plant would be a must in every garden!
