Brazil and Uruguay is the real homeland of this plant, but New Zealand is the biggest producer of this delicious fruit becoming more and more known. Its oval, leathery leaves are silver coloured underneath, has red brush-like flowers and the fruits are egg-like, coloured in ashen green. This fruit rivals the finest tropical fruits. The plant is non-sensitive, can be grown easily and overwinters at 1-2 °C, but it can resist frost up to -10 °C quite well too. Petals, which have a pleasant aroma, taste sweet and are eaten raw or cocktails are flavoured with them.
USDA zone 8b
Gemini is an early ripening sort. The fruit is oval-shaped, has thin, dark green skin, its soft-pulped juicy fruit tastes especially delicious! It is self-fertilizing, but near other sorts it yields more abundantly.
