Giant, reaching up to 20-25 meters in height, fully winter-hardy tree which is native to the eastern half of the United States. In summer it has shiny dark green foliage. Its small greenish flowers bloom en masse in spring. It produces large amount of fruits, which are real delicacy for the wild animals in its original homeland. The glossy leaves are oval or elliptical, of 5-12 cm large. At the beginning of autumn its foliage colour changes to beautiful purple. It is one of the most beautiful and special trees!
