This bamboo bush has non-spreading root-system. The plant can be found up to the altitude of 9186 feet/2800 m in the mountains near Lijiang in China`s Yunnan Province. It grows to 6.5-13 feet/2-4 m tall, the mature stalks are usually 0.4-0.8 inch/1-2 cm thick and black in colour. A special feature is the young stalks`downy blue colour while growing! It is an excellent solitary or hedge plant but can be an indoor plant or a container plant too. Fully winter-hardy, only a bit rougher winter may cause some damage to the foliage, but soon regenerates itself in spring!
