This version was created by Emile Sahut in Montpelier, France. A smaller evergreen shrub or tree, typically growing to about 5` high but may reach 8` in height too. Its slightly fragrant, cupped deep red 1-inch large flowers have starkly contrasting white stamens. The cold hardiness of Emile Sahut is about minus 6-8 degrees Celsius and adapts to different types of soils very well, although it does appreciate good drainage and seem to prefer mineral soil over humus based soils. It is a good choice for containers.
