It is a hybrid from the former Soviet Union ripening very nice quality fruit and was created by crossing Diospyros kaki and Diospyros virginiana. The most important property is its frost and winter survival! It already proved its hardiness in the `Siberian February` of 2012: it was the only one of 10 varieties that continued shooting from the crown, more exactly, mostly from apical buds at spring! Most of the other nine sorts froze up to the hilt in the same place!
(Nikita`s Gift is another sort with similar winter-hardiness!)
