This Judas tree is a real specialty. The basic species comes from North America. It reaches 8-10 meters in height and the width can be 5-8 metres too. Its spherical crown is flattened. The real interest of this plant is its red, heart-shaped leaves. The blooms, which remind us about the ones of peas, develop from red buds. The pale pink blossoms appear in dense clumps on the trunk and branches in early April, before the leaves sprout.
It is very showy planted as a solitaire or in the company of other flashy, colourful foliage shrubs or evergreens as well.
