Azara microphylla, also known as Boxleaf Azara is an arching, evergreen shrub. It has fan-like branches and small dark, glossy leaves, the smallest of the Azara family. The overall effect of the boxleaf azara is airy, and it makes a good scrim. In late winter, or very early in the spring, it bears abundance of tiny pale yellow flowers having a powerful vanilla scent. By the end of March, flowers are followed by red berries.
