It is a fast-growing, 4-5-metre tall bush. It yields fruit-berries abundantly and richly, the dark orange berries are of medium-large size, very spectacular and start ripening from the end of August. The fruit is very rich in fruit-acids and vitamins, especially suitable for fruit-processing or to prepare juices.
One of our colleagues has made an extremely simple tool for picking the berries: he pierced a few thin iron-nails at one end of a thinner board, and with the so-resulting `comb` he simply combed the berries off the branches! Then we pressed the slightly squeezed squashy substance through a chestnut purée press. Very quickly, we had a lot of sea buckthorn juice, and thanks to the combing method, the branches of the shrubs were not needed to cut either!
