It is an old English origin sort, named after its yellowish-brown or cinnamon-coloured rough skin, in some areas called sooty apple. The relatively small, slightly flattened, round shaped fruit is characteristic sour, a little bit vinous. It can be picked from the second half of October and can be stored for a long time, till even spring and it will still ripen during the storage time. This is a regular and abundant yielding, hardened sort which really feels fine in a more humid and wetter areas.
