Apple: Vajszlói Piros Pogácsaalma

(Malus domestica `Vajszlói Piros Pogácsaalma`)
This plant is currently unavailable.

It is probably a Hungarian origin apple variety, first-class market-, home- and a second-class dessert apple. Overall, a highly adaptable, very vigorous, resistant, undemanding variety, which tolerates frost very well too. Hardly susceptible to diseases. Accepts pollens very well, Jonathan is the pollinator. Yields abundantly but intermittently. The fruit is very decorative, and large or medium-sized, the peel is thin, smooth, shiny and slightly greasy to the touch. The flesh is greenish-white, dense, hard and friable when the apple is ripe. The taste is pleasant, luscious, sweet and tart at the same time, acidic and Mediterranean. It has thirst-quenching effect, vinous sweet and pretty juicy. Its scent is pleasant, medium-strong. Ripening time is the second half of October or at the end of the month - the later harvested, the less it tastes bitter. Consuming time lasts from November-December to March-April. It can be stored very well either in a cool room or in a simple pit. Can be delivered really well, is not at all sensitive to the pressure.
