It had grown wild in the floodplains of River Tisza and River Szamos through centuries. The traditional Penyige plums ripen in August, the fruit is roundish, with bluish-gray peel, the flesh is bright yellow, very sweet, aromatic, full-flavored, but not freestone. It is resistant to Sharka virus and other diseases. To make jam and brandy, it is worth collecting when a little bit overripe.
