The Purple birch is an elgant upright, slow-growing, narrowly conical, deciduous tree with very dark stem and branches and leaves that colour rich purple in the sun. The foliage is purple, bronze-tinted in spring, in summer and in autumn. It`s habit is upright when young and weeping with age. The slender outreaching branches are slightly pendulous. Ideal for a small garden contrasting well with other birches.
