Its basic species is native to the Iberian Peninsula. The plant is evergreen, grows to be a bigger shrub or a small tree, the canopy is shiny dark green. This version is narrower stockier and has a conical stature. Its snow-white blossoms have very pleasant, strong scent, bloom in long slender racemes in early summer. The fruits are initially coral coloured then blackish-purple when ripe. In protected places it will be an ornamental plant of very significant value, in such places it is perfect as a hedge, too!
