Originating from the Netherlands, this variety produces large fruits that are up to 2in (5cm) in diameter. Westerveld blossoms in March or April and ripens its fruit in September and October, which are excellent for making medlar jelly. The tree is small with a slightly weeping habit, but also an ornamental tree thanks to its decorative bark, foliage and blossoms, which make it beautiful in every season, so can be a fantastic ornamental and fruit tree for any garden or orchard!
