Japanese Larch

(Larix kaempferi)
This plant is currently unavailable.

It is a deciduous pine native to Japan, which is also popular for its bluish foliage colour. It likes cooler, more humid growing areas and the deeper layered, nutrient-rich soils. Under optimum conditions, it is able to grow amazing one and a half meters in a year! It is a forest-forming species in Japan, there it is grown in sylviculture for its very valuable wood. It is great to afforestation in cooler, wetter valleys or on northern hillsides in our country (Hungary) as well, and is beautiful as a decorative tree too! The foliage falls shaded in orange colour at autumn, the new spring shoots are blue downy, silky-soft and very beautiful!
