Boryana Leopard Bamboo

(Phyllostachys nigra `Boryana` (EMELT POSTADÍJAS!))
This plant is currently unavailable.

The famous chinese leopard-bamboo with brown spots on the stems. Very hardy, relatively slow groving, real giant and extraordinarily decorative bamboo, reaching 12 m height, and 8-10 cm thickness.

It is a real giant! In South France (Anduze) it reaches a height of 18 meters, but under optimal conditions, it can grow over 12 m in our country (Hungary) too, the stem thickness can be 6 to 10 cm! The young shoots are bright-green, then from the second or third year, reddish and brownish cloudy spots like panther skin appear on them. It is a thriving bamboo with healthy foliage, which can be raised to turn into an impressive-looking forest. The cane is excellent raw material for making furniture, fences, etc. The buds are edible.

We have positive experience with the root ball bamboos for many years. Although they need a bit more care after planting, we can work with them at 100% success, just like the container ones!

The bases of the newly arrived root ball bamboos and their foliage should be thoroughly watered at least once a day until planting! After planting, they must be thoroughly watered again, but not only their bases, but also the foliage! In warm, dry weather the foliage still requires regular water spray or rain-like watering for a few weeks, but it is unnecessary in cooler, wetter weather. At wind-swept places the bamboos must be fixed (tie up to a picket, fence, etc.) to prevent the wind lean them! Most bamboos have spreading root, but spreading can be prevented by simple limitation in the ground.
