Crabapple: Radiant

(Malus `Radiant`)
This plant is currently unavailable.

It is a classic, disease-resistant, cold-hardy, 4.5-6 m (15-20 feet) tall, deciduous crabapple. It fills its upright branches with beautiful red buds and fragrant, deep pink flowers in spring so giving a wonderful sight. Just after the flower buds, red-green oval leaves emerge and dress up the tree nicely. It needs a long period of cold in winter to flower fully in spring. The autumn foliage is mottled green, yellow, orange and orange-red. The crop consists of pea-sized, bright red small apples as early as late summer and lasting long on the tree.
Radiant feels fine in full sun in any moderately fertile, deep, well-drained soil that is moist throughout the growing season. USDA zone 3
