APPLE `DIÓSPUSZTAI ÖREGANYÁM ALMÁJA` (my great-grandmother`s apple from Dióspuszta): The `mother-tree` of this apple is a very old, beautiful, strong, big tree in Tótszentgyörgy. A first-class heirloom variety, resistant to diseases. The fruit is a spectacular, big, delicious apple with a spicy aroma. Excellent keeping quality even among simple conditions. It has a flattened apple shape, large size (about 9-10 cm in diameter and 5-6 cm in height in average, often much bigger). Colour: a vivid yellow, with a smaller, cinnabar-red, dotted blur on the sunny side. Its skin is thick, though, rather waxen. The fruit flesh is less dense than that of the Húsvéti rozmaring variety, but it has a harder texture, and is more juicy. The flesh colour is white, turning to a pale creamy yellow when fully ripe. A very delicious, spicy taste, resembling of cinnamon. Tree: becomes a big tree, producing a rich crop, with an inclination to alternating. Use: premium-class `dessert apple`(for fresh eating) and a `cider apple` due to its juicyness (good for canning or cooking, baking too).
