Japanese Arrow Bamboo

(Pseudosasa japonica )
This plant is currently unavailable.

It reaches 2-3 meters height, but with its long and broad leaves it grows to a very nice dense bush, which is especially decorative by ponds and lakes, but also can be used as a solitaire plant or a hedge plant. However the leaves are damaged at minus 15ºC, it recovers very fast in the spring from the new shoots. The stems are very straight, and were used by samurai warriors for making arrows (Japanese arrow-bamboo). Good winter hardiness and surprisingly good drought tolerance when already well established.
